The Germany international has endured a difficult season at the Emirates Stadium and turned in yet another error-strewn display at the weekend as the Gunners lost 3-2 to Crystal Palace.

Mustafi was at fault for all three of Palace’s goals as Unai Emery’s side sustained a severe blow to their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season via a league finish.

Indeed, the Gunners failed to capitalise on Tottenham Hotspur losing to Manchester City and Manchester United losing to Everton, while Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.

Mustafi has subsequently become something of a pantomime villain for Gunners supporters and, after manager Emery pleaded for fans to get behind the team ahead of their clash with Wolves on Wednesday, they took their chance to have yet another dig at the centre-back.
